The one key tool to solving any problem, e.g. social, economic, mathematical, etc.., is having “emotional stabiliy”.
We are humans. We are full of emotions. When we are faced with a problem, we react. Our reaction is influenced by several factors including life experiences, way we were raised, way we were trained. Those influences will cause us to react in different level of emotional reactions. Thus, it is important to have emotional stability and developed resilience to avoid worsening the problems we are facing and, actually, solve them.
Emotional stability does not mean being indifferent about problems. On the contrary, it means that we are well aware of a problem and its positive and/or negative potential consequences while having a composure and a full control of ourselves and reactions.
Different people may have different levels of this skill. This skill could be acquired and developed. It might be hard at first to implement it. However, as we become more aware of it and as we practice it more, we will eventually master it.
Developing a high level of emotional stability will lead to resilience. Being reselient is the greatest weapon you could have to fight emotions and find solutions.
It is not bad to have emotions when facing a problem. It is not a weakness to have emotions when facing a problem. It is natural because we are humans. It is bad and weak to let emotions be in charge when facing a problem. Be reselient and the quality of your solutions will enhance.
(At the time of writing the paragraphs above, I was influenced and was thinking of emotions that could emerge from family problems and work problems. It was written as a revolution against guilt-based power and the urge to please)
